Rules & Safety

The MatMice Rules

The rules at MatMice are pretty simple. Stick to them and you'll have fun; break them and you'll get yourself banned. Our Terms of Use contains the full list of rules.

You must not:

  • Say anything bad about anyone else. Bullying online is not acceptable, and MatMice takes it very seriously. You can get into trouble with your parents or your school (or even the police) if you break this rule.
  • Post personal information (such as your or anybody else's last name, email address, instant messenger screen name, home address, phone number, or school details).
  • Swear or use other inappropriate language on your profile, or post (or link to) anything inappropriate.
  • Post copyrighted material on your profile.
  • Share your password with anyone else, not even your friends.
  • Ask anyone on MatMice for their password, email address, or other personal information.
  • Accept friend requests from people that you don't know and trust.
  • Claim you belong to the MatMice staff.
  • Attempt to hack the MatMice website or member profiles.

You should:

  • Respect other people's feelings and opinions.
  • Respect other people's cultures.
  • Most importantly, have fun!

MatMice reserves the right to use any means, whether technical or human, to uphold the MatMice rules. MatMice also reserves the right to refuse use of the site and may report anyone who breaks the law to the authorities (yes, that means the police). If you break the law, you can be traced.

Being Safe Online

It's important to keep these safety tips in mind when you're online.

  • Never share your password with anyone other than your parent or guardian (don't even share it with your best friend!).
  • Never post personal information online (such as your or anybody else's last name, email address, home address, phone number, or school details).
  • Don't post anything online that you wouldn't want a stranger to see.
  • Don't post anything that might embarrass you later. Think twice before posting a photo or information you wouldn't want your parents or teachers to see!
  • Never agree to meet an online friend in real life. People aren't always who they say they are.
  • If you see something that you think is unsafe at MatMice, report it. If something makes you feel uncomfortable, talk with a trusted adult.
